With the Ford Focus
recently announced as “Car of the Decade” by Auto Trader, Heartlands Ford is
urging customers to ‘get in quick’ and take advantage of the Government’s scrappage
allowance to purchase a brand new Ford before the scheme runs out.
The scrappage
scheme, launched in May 2009, is scheduled to run out at the end of February
and has so far helped over 35,000 drivers trade up to a brand new car from the
award-winning Ford product range.
As the
UK’s top selling vehicle brand for the last 33 years, Ford is already the
favourite choice for new vehicle buyers and, throughout the scheme, Heartlands has
seen a huge interest in both its small car models and larger models such as the
S-Max 2.0 Titanium and Ford Kuga.
Jim
Higgins, Regional Director for Heartlands Ford, said: “Customer’s have been
taking advantage of the scheme to trade up to their favourite models,
benefiting from today’s more stylish, safer and economical designs. The
initiative will be coming to an end in February so I would encourage those
thinking about scrapping their old car to act sooner rather than later”.
Ford's top selling vehicle range secured almost 17 per cent of the UK's total 2009 market, making one in six new vehicles a Ford. Total Ford sales to retail customers went up by over 9,000 compared with 2008.

In early 2009 Ford
Fiesta took over the top UK sales position from the Ford Focus and the pair
retained first and second place in the sales charts through to the end of the
year.
Jim continued: "Ford's
strong 2009 sales performance underlined once again the market appeal of the
company's best ever product line up. 2010 is set to be another year of
tough trading but Ford will continue to benefit from a flow of new models,
including S-MAX, Galaxy and C-MAX”.
Additional
discounts on top of the Government subsidy are available through Ford’s
‘Scrappage Plus’ incentive, which has helped buyers wanting to trade in their
older, less efficient and more-polluting vehicles for a brand new, safer and
lower CO2 car from its range of larger models.
